Spring Break Camping

Well I finally stepped foot back into our travel trailer after living in it for six weeks in the fall! We went on our first camping trip of the year for the kids spring break. We didn't go too far from home but it was just as relaxing as if we went across the state! We met up with some friends and relatives and camped at Lloyd Park in Grand Prairie. The kids had plenty of cousins to play with and the adults had some time away from work and home.
Every since we purchased our travel trailer camping has been something Robert and I love to do with the kids. I know some people might not consider this camping but we have done the tent thing and I don't want to go back there!! We have been to over 15state parks with our travel trailer not to mention other RV parks. We are slowly checking off our list of state parks in Texas and then hope to continue on in other states. Already talking about Yellowstone!
We stayed from Friday to Tuesday and we probably could have stayed longer but it was back to work for Robert. While we were there we fished, walked, rode bikes and scooters and just enjoyed everyones company. Got us back in the camping mood and I am ready for more!

Lots of cousins!

The seeds we sow...

Planting the garden!

Chloe watching to make sure we are planting the seeds correctly!

Ok so as many of you know my husband is a pretty picky eater so what may come as a big surprise is how much he has wanted to plant a garden. Now at our first house we had a very small garden - maybe the size of a card table, we have planted peppers in pots and tried our hand at a couple of watermelons (that was interesting) but that was the extent of our gardening. Of course Robert never does anything small - so our new garden is about 60x100! No I don't believe we will be using all of the space right now but he felt like if we were going to fence out a garden we might as well plan for the future! Kelsey and Robert went to Home Depot and stocked up on seeds - you name it they got it - well except my herbs and zuchinni and squash (I will have to go back for those). So far we have managed to plant carrots, celery, lettuce, spinach, sugar snap peas and radishes. The weather has delayed further planting but once it clears up we are on to all kinds of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, grapes, pumpkins and watermelons. Did I mention again that Kelsey and Robert picked all this out!!?? So you can imagine the fun we will have once it gets going. We will have to let yall know what comes to fruition - literally in a few months or atleast I think thats how long it takes! Oh and we also are going to have a small orchard in the next several years - we have the beginnings of cherry trees, apple trees and some other ones - again Robert's choosing - not mine!

Blankets (uh-oh!) & Babies

For the many people that do not know Kelsey has a blanket. This blanket has been with us since before she was born(Thank you Kati Walker and family for the blanket and matching footed pjs!) However in the almost four short years of the blankets life it has seen quite a few things and it is showing its age!! It used to be a very pretty pink color on one side and animal print on the other. Kelsey sleeps with this blanket during naps, nighttime, watching cartoons and uses as a stress relief when she just needs to bite down on something! I know we need to start restricting it but right now I just don't have it in me. But that isn't the problem I am talking about - this is:

No this is not a younger picture of Kelsey - THIS IS CHLOE!!! And yes that is Kelsey's nasty blanket in her mouth. So as I am writing this I am trying to decide which is worse. Chloe sucking her thumb which is not always clean after crawling around on the floor or her sucking on Kelsey's old grimy blanket! Can't decide yet but then again maybe I won't have to be the one that takes the blanket away from Kelsey maybe Chloe will!!
By the way this is Kelsey watching on as her little sister steals her blanket.

She loves her babies - maybe that will be her new attachment - one can only hope!!

What a busy day!

Our Saturdays normally consist of maybe one planned thing however this day we had three! We got an early start and went to Caleb's last basketball game. Despite the loss everyone received a trophy.

He played 8 games this season and if my memory is correct they won 5, tied 1 and lost 2. Pretty good for his first basketball season. On to baseball now - his first year to play machine pitch instead of Tball - it will be interesting!!
After we left basketball we went straight over to the Scout House and had the Pinewood Derby. Caleb's car didn't win but he was in the second group of finalists -he was very proud!

After a short nap for Robert and Chloe Aunt Ashley came over to watch the kids so Robert and I could have a night out! We went to the Moslah Directors Mardi Gras Party and had a great time - maybe a little too much fun - we didn't get home till 1:30am!!
